Clays and kaolin from the GINMIN mine in Guyana can both be used in construction, either directly or after processing through the milling and calcining capabilities of US Ceramics.

When used directly, the clays from Guyana can be used for as an alumina source (especially for white cements where controlled iron content is required) or as a cement extender (where it might be calcined first).

The flexible US Ceramics capabilities allow it to mill, sinter/calcine and micronize not only clays and kaolin sourced from the in-house deposits but also from other sources too. High performance metakaolin produced from kaolin can be used as supplementary cementing materials (SCM) but can also be used in more technologically advanced (and environmentally friendly) applications such as geopolymers. Metakaolin and also calcined clays also can be used in LC3 cements where they can provide even greater improvements in performance and reduced environmental impact.
