Sustainable Project Development

Sustainable water management was a fundamental design feature of the Bonasika operations from inception. Our closed-loop process water supply system, supported by a series of cascading, chemical-free subsurface tailings and settlement ponds, minimizes water consumption and ensures the return of clean water to the environment.

Environmental Responsibility

Our Environmental Team routinely conducts air and water quality testing, along with noise monitoring, to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Working closely with the Environmental Protection Agency, our technicians uphold the highest environmental standards by implementing international best practices in hydrocarbon storage and waste management.

Community Commitment

First Bauxite actively collaborates with the communities surrounding our operations, promoting transparency, encouraging feedback, and investing in local development initiatives. Our contributions to date include:

Construction of a new school
Residential electrification program
Development of a well and water distribution system in partnership with Guyana Water Inc.
Provision of broadband internet services in collaboration with One Communications
Support for community medical assistance programs
